WE ACCEPT EBT/SNAP/3SQUARESVT!
Our free-choice farm membership runs for 18 weeks, from June-October. Free-choice means you are free to choose exactly which items you would like to bring home each week. You can also customize the size of your weekly share and take advantage of on-farm pick up, drop-site pick up, or home delivery. We grow more than 100 varieties of fruits and vegetables, from staples to specialties, and we do it all with practices that are more careful than the organic standard.
What is a farm share?
- A farm share is a portion of the harvest, provided in return for an upfront investment in the farm. This is a form of community supported agriculture (CSA), where individuals work together to make community-scale agriculture economically possible by sharing in the risks and rewards of farming.
Why Community Supported Agriculture at Birdsong Farm?
- You and other shareholders provide our farm with the economic security to plant and hire, knowing we have a community of folks who are invested in our food.
- We offer you abundant food at a much lower price than you would spend at the farmers’ market or in the store. Depending on ability to pay, members receive 20-30% discount off market prices.
- You get to access super fresh, hyper local food! We grow everything on the farm in Stockbridge, and we harvest as close to pickup/delivery as possible.
- You support our efforts to build a diversified working farm that is capturing carbon, feeding our neighbors, and stewarding vibrant farmland for future generations.
We grow most of the vegetables you’ve heard of, and some you might not have! Most weeks will feature at least 25 crops to choose from and crops will rotate in and out throughout the season. On occasion, certain crops may be limited to 1 or more per share to make sure everyone can enjoy them.
As an example of the seasonality of the share, a 6-item share might look like this in any given week throughout the summer:
June: butterhead lettuce, radishes, scallions, mustard greens, sugar snap peas
July: beets, broccoli, rainbow chard, summer leeks, zucchini, garlic scapes
August: eggplant, sweet peppers, cucumbers, shishito peppers, heirloom tomato, carrots
September: cherry tomatoes, shallots, bok choy, carrots, delicata squash, parsley
October: potatoes, garlic, pie pumpkin, red onions, kale, cabbage

Birdsong Farm shares are sized by the number of ‘items’ you intend to take home each week of the season. You can choose any number of weekly items from 4 to 16. ‘Items’ are units of roughly equivalent value, averaging around $4 in market value. Our most popular share size has been between 6 and 9 items.
Example items: a pound of tomatoes, a bunch of carrots, one melon, a bunch of kale, two heads of garlic, two delicata squash, one pie pumpkin, two bunches of herbs, a pint of cherry tomatoes.
On-farm pick up: Every Thursday afternoon from 3-8pm. We set out farmers’ market style tables full of produce that you choose from. Farmers are occasionally around to restock, but this is a self-serve, bring your own bag situation.
Delivery to home address: preorder your items by Wednesday each week or let us choose. We pack a box and bring it to your address. Delivery is available to Randolph, Bethel, Woodstock, Stockbridge, Royalton, SoRo, and Barnard. This option costs $5/week and is only available on a season-long basis. We may not be able to deliver to exceedingly remote addresses… ask us!
Delivery to On the Edge: preorder your items by Wednesday each or let us choose. We pack a box and drop it at On the Edge Farmstand on Route 12 in Woodstock on Thursday afternoon.
Rochester Farmers Market: choose your items from our tent at the Farmers’ Market, 3-6pm every Friday afternoon.
CSA shares are priced according to your chosen share size and your ability to pay. You can calculate the total cost of your share by multiplying your number of items/week by your $/item and then adding delivery fees if relevant.
I want 8 items per week and can afford to pay at the $60 level. I am picking up on the farm (no fee). My season total is 8*$60=$480.
No one is turned away. If you can afford to pay more, then please do. If you need support, then you are encouraged to pay less. Please read more about our food access practices here.
